I went to the State Fair on the first Wednesday. The crowds were light and the lines to everything was short. A very nice day.

I failed to get the required Fletcher’s Corn Dog. I did try the fried butter, I don’t have a taste for these kinds of things but the media were promoting it. It was OK, I have tasted the same thing every time I butter a biscuit at breakfast.

The midway was dead. High prices and low turnout was killing this day. You could throw a baseball down the midway and it would hit a carnie running for coffee before it would hit a mark.

One thing I really liked was all the free food. The samples that were being given out went a long way to keeping me from spending my money at the food court.

While at the fair, I visited with a couple of showfolk I know who are booked in there. The rumors going around is that a new location for the State Fair is being considered, possibly to the Arlington area. Time will tell.

I remember going to the state fair when I was a kid 🙂 My aunt and uncle took me and my cousins. I thought the Lego exhibit was the coolest thing I had ever seen! There were like dozens of wonderful creations, all made with Legos! … The cars and food and stuff weren’t too bad, but the impression they made dulls in comparison to seeing what can be done with my favorite building blocks and to my first ride on the Texas Star. That was pretty cool too 🙂 It was the absolute BIGGEST Ferris Wheel I had ever seen! I don’t think any of the people I was riding with enjoyed the height as much as I did. Kind of gives you an invincible feeling when you are 12 years old and the big tough teenagers you are sharing a cage with are acting all scared.
