This town will always have a special place in my memories. It was the first city I traveled to after “running off with the carnival” in 2001. The kind people from one of the local churches provided with a delicious lunch every day which really made me feel welcome and kept me from feeling too homesick. It also set the mood for me feeling like my new co-workers were an extended family.
The DeLeon Peach and Melon Festival is great fun for people of all ages. I’ve always loved it (especially the parades), so much so, that I’ve even designed a few t-shirts about the DeLeon Festival. You can check them out at zazzle.com/kaliopekateskorner. Look under t-shirts/local flavor.
